The history of the emergence of the caterpillar
In 1905 in San Francisco, California, a Holt steam traction engine (rebranded somewhat distantly as Caterpillar) worked on the construction of a portion of it. The world famous cable car system in San Francisco that lays a new cable. To date, CAT equipment has been an essential part of the muscle needed to expand the Panama Canal between 2007 and 2014. In total, more than 70 different machines were used in just two six-phase designs.
